Overview
Clemson Spineless is one of the most trusted okra varieties worldwide and has remained a favorite among home gardeners for generations. Plants grow vigorously and begin producing smooth, spineless pods about 50–60 days after sowing. Frequent harvesting encourages continuous production throughout the season. Okra thrives in hot weather and full sun, making it an excellent vegetable for Thailand. Young pods are delicious when stir-fried, grilled, roasted, pickled, or added to soups and curries. Rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, and antioxidants, okra is both nutritious and productive for home gardens.

Okra Seeds - Clemson Spineless — growing guide
- 1
Prepare and Soak the Seeds
Soak the seeds in clean water for 8–12 hours before sowing to help soften the hard seed coat and encourage faster, more even germination.
- 2
Sow the Seeds
Sow seeds about 1–2 cm deep in moist, well-drained soil. Place 1–2 seeds per hole and space planting positions about 40–60 cm apart.
- 3
Thin the Seedlings
After the seedlings develop several true leaves, keep the strongest plant in each position and remove weaker seedlings carefully.
- 4
Provide Sun, Water and Fertilizer
Grow in full sun and keep the soil evenly moist without waterlogging. Apply compost or a balanced fertilizer during active growth, then continue feeding regularly as pods begin to form.
- 5
Watch for Flowers and Young Pods
Okra produces large flowers followed quickly by pods. Check the plants daily once flowering begins because the pods grow rapidly in warm weather.
- 6
Harvest Tender Pods
Harvest pods when they are about 7–10 cm long and still tender, usually 3–5 days after flowering. Pick regularly to encourage the plant to continue producing new pods.
Plant care
Watering
Keep soil evenly moist. Water deeply 2–3 times per week.
Fertilizing
Incorporate compost before planting and apply a balanced fertilizer during early growth. Switch to a fertilizer slightly higher in potassium once flowering begins to encourage continuous flowering and pod production.
Harvesting
Harvest pods when they are 7–10 cm long while still tender, usually 3–5 days after flowering. Pick every 2–3 days to encourage continuous production. Older pods become fibrous and less suitable for eating.
